Clarence Taylor, a designer and self-taught aeronautical engineer from Nottingham, England, along with his brother Gordon formed the Taylor Brothers Aircraft Corporation. With the catchy slogan; "Buy Your Airplane Taylor Made" by 1926 in Rochester, New York they were ready to market their first two-seat high-winged monoplane called the "Chummy". This was not a particularly good seller and with a price tag of 4000 dollars was thought to be quite expensive . Clarence would later go on to design the original “Taylor Cub” in 1931 but first a move to a new factory and new location in Bradford, Pennsylvania saw new investors join the company, one of whom was William Thomas Piper.

Piper took advantage of Taylor's absence during an illness to modify the Cub to be more attractive and marketable. Taylor left the company vowing to build a new personal aircraft superior to the Cub and formed his own company in 1935 as Taylor Aircraft Company, later to be renamed Taylorcraft Aviation 1939. Since that time Taylorcraft Aviation have been producing relatively small single engine high wing fabric covered two seat aircraft, the basic of which has remained largely unchanged since 1936, and even today this same design is still sold as a personal sport aircraft.

Hangar 9 have done an outstanding job in recreating the style and glamour of the 1930’s with their superb clipped wing Taylorcraft, this aircraft with its 80 inch wing span combines stunning aerobatic qualities along with the inherent stability of a high wing aircraft to deliver near perfect scale like flying performance.

The model may be powered by either petrol or glow engines or an electric motor without additional modification.
It features a built-up airframe constructed from laser cut balsa and plywood and simulates the scale tubular fuselage construction of the full-size aircraft for an accurate scale appearance.
Other features include a pre-painted fibreglass cowling with moulded cooling louvers, pre-formed landing gear fairings, sprung landing gear legs and pre-formed crystal clear cabin glazing.

The cabin interior, accessed through the scale opening door has room for the included full bodied pilot figure and a scale instrument panel adds an extra touch of realism, whilst for ease of assembly all of the flight control surfaces come pre-hinged and the model is covered with Ultracote™ in a stylish vibrant red and white colour scheme with black highlights and pin stripes.
For ease of transport the Taylorcraft has a two-piece wing with fold-flat wing struts for convenience and a bolt on fully rigged tail plane assembly.

Hangar 9’s photo illustrated assembly guide, complete hardware pack and a host of other pre-fabricated scale features make getting this great looking scale model in the air as easy as possible.
